Izziyana Suhaimi: Fashionably Stitched

A word from the artist, Izziyana Suhaimi: I am Endlessly curious. My work primarily involves the use of embroidery. I am interested in collapsing the boundaries between traditional and popular cultures and exploring the links that exist between these two. My work examines how this particular mishmash manifests itself in modern times, especially concerning modern youths. Preferring to work with craft-based techniques, I am attracted to the evidence of the hand and its time-consuming aspect, which runs counter to the instant gratification and mass-production centered age of today. My works have been exhibited in Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan.

Sagaki Keita’s Drawings Within Drawings

Remember the iconic picture of Princess Diana made out of thousands of different colored roses? Sagaki Keita’s drawings are reminiscent of this technique multiplied by 1000. To me his work embodies modern day impressionism that would have blown Renoir’s brains. Enjoy.

The tentacles of Justine Ashbee

Illustrator Justine Ashbee creates other worldly intuitive drawings, letting the lines and formations take a life of their own. Getting lost in the dips and turns of the ink I’m reminded of M.C. Escher.
