La Prisa Mata – “Hastiness Kills”

Luis Toledo is a puzzle maker of life’s  beautiful and strange components. He assembles fragments into robust and mesmerizing chronicles, each viewer unfolding a story worth a lifetime. I am in love with his work! Below is a statement from his website:

“Life, identity, reality, status quo, intention and purpose. From very young, the look of Luis Toledo explored the inquisitive reality, analyzing the hidden meaning of every image, dissecting the mystery of beauty. That´s how, as a meticulous collector, he would gather grain by grain, illustrations, textures, and fragments from where he created and built his images. Tangled, powerful and ethereal, each work gathers deep meanings. His dedication naturally walked towards visual communication, developing into his actual work as a graphic designer in a first place, for the music industry (even though this is an environment in which his talent resist to limit itself ). In the digital collage, he finds his favorite discipline, which lets him put together in a more effective way, each atom of color to create a vast universe.”

Tea Kettle Fountain

Pinned Image
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn’t be, and what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see? -Alice in Alice & Wonderland

Floral Seduction

Georgia O’keefe knew it. Now Natalia Grzybowski knows it too. Women are flowers both metaphorically and physically. Behold a collection of clothing that exudes beauty, a beauty that is both fragile and strong, and mesmerizing to say the least.Natalia uses digital prints to the same degree that Georgia mastered oil paints- in a fashion all her own.

What it means to be a WallFlower By: Cecilia Paredes

Cecilia Paredes is an escape artist, and she does it beautifully to boot. The Lima born artist can seamlessly transport her subject into a jungle of lily’s or a maze of paisley’s, never to be found again. If you could blend into any background what would it be? Also a great way to tell if you like the full body tattoo look.

Yulia Brodskaya: Queen of the Paper Imaginarium

Born in Moscow Russia, Yulia Brodskaya is a ‘craftier de papier extrordinaire’- She makes crazy cool paper illustrations and designs. Who would have ever guessed that paper, invented in China in the 2nd century c.e., would one day be transformed into such intricate wonderment?

Dunya Atay Mixed Media

Dunya Atay does not use any glue, scissors or photoshop!  The Istanbul based illustrator uses only ink and markers on various fashion magazines to create her beautiful art. To me this poem by Joyce Thomas captures the whimsy of Dunya’s mixed media artwork.

“Sun-struck,
stuck in mid tropic strut, it sometimes stands
as if considering how to cool avian plastic,
dive into the mown lagoon of lawn;
how take flight on dayglow flap-
doodle wings, no matter
if it is ball-bald going nowhere fast.”
